Yakiniku Shodai is a korean bbq in San Francisco, California. It is listed at 1420 Market St, San Francisco, CA 94102, which places it among the local businesses of San Francisco that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In San Francisco, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11:30 am–2 pm. It is closed on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (415) 757-0201. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, shodaisf.com.

Simply the best. The staff were incredibly friendly and made the whole experience feel so special. My friend and I had such a great night here. You can really tell they care about the quality of the meat, and they shared so much knowledge about how everything is grilled and prepared. Amazing food, amazing service, and such a memorable experience.

Dining at Yakiniku Shodai was an outstanding experience from start to finish, seamlessly blending top-tier Wagyu cuts with thoughtfully crafted side courses. The curated tasting menu progressed beautifully, featuring highlights like delicate Australian Wagyu beef tongue topped with scallions, heavily marbled Japanese A5 Wagyu paired with fresh wasabi and kelp, and standout creative dishes like a rich Wagyu chawanmushi and a perfectly seared scallop over crisp nori. Paired with chilled Masumi sake, the exceptional meat quality, artful presentation, and well-paced menu make Yakiniku Shodai a top-tier destination for Japanese BBQ lovers. Definitely a must try.

Glad I chose this spot for my birthday night with my girls. We got the reservation a few days ahead. It seems to be quiet popular. The chef and the host gave us such an impressive experience. The food and service are what I would expect from an authentic upscale Yakiniku place. I also enjoyed the conversation with the chefs and the host. The chefs here cook the meat in front of you and serve to you directly. All the meats are cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasonings. I’m glad they don't over season the meat nor over complicate it like other American upscale Japanese restaurants.(I enjoy food creativity if they taste good and if the complexity makes sense but sadly a lot of upscale restaurants failed to make it makes sense to me.) Reading some other reviews on the bbq smell got me a bit surprised. I wouldn’t mind if the upscale bbq restaurant smells like a bbq place, so I am surprised ppl complained about the smoky smell in this kind of restaurant. Thank you Chris and Circle for the fun experience!
